The international ROOTS & ROUTES network started out as an informal network of organisations doing transnational projects together. In 2008, the partner organisations decided to formalise this network: The ROOTS & ROUTES International Association (RRIA) was founded as umbrella organisation for the network.
RRIA is an association by Dutch law, but with international activities and members. RRIA is governed by an international board that is elected by the general assembly of the RRIA members. RRIA also has a Community Council connecting the young artists in the network and giving them the chance to send a representative with full voting rights directly into the board.
The international ROOTS & ROUTES network consists of the umbrella organisation RRIA (ROOTS & ROUTES International Association) and its member organisations in various countries.
