"Roots and Routes Follow-up" is an action-research project addressing non-formal and informal learning in artistic contexts in Europe. It explores the current status of validation of informal and non-formal learning outcomes in this field, and works on a model for the assessment of artistic skills in music, dance and media.
Methodologies include peer coaching and the use of digital portfolios for the evaluation of specifically artistic competence sets.
“Roots&Routes Follow-up” is based on a previous Leonardo da Vinci pilot project and its innovative practice, "Roots and Routes Summercourses", and will further develop training modules, follow-up and assessment methods, necessary competencies, and certification criteria in the field of the performing arts, on transnational level. With "Roots&Routes Follow-up" we intend to adapt the outcomes of the R&R Summercourses to different socio-cultural contexts in southern and eastern Europe, and build further on the experiences and outcomes achieved.
In four countries, national training courses will take place where motivated talents will follow training modules in diverse new music and dance languages, theory and practice of the entertainment business and audio-visual media technique. The talents will also perform on national festivals and stages.

Summer Suite _ Application Forms
25 young dancers and musicians present a live performance where different artistic languages and styles, from jazz to hip hop, from modern to pop, come together in an expressive melting pot that plays with the form of the musical suite.
Summer Suite is the work-show concluding the Summer School Application Forms (25/06-09/07/2011), two intense weeks of creative workshops and of interdisciplinary research between dance and music, starting from a shared elaboration of the original music score.
Next to the young artists of the Florentine territory, the presence of more experienced musicians and of peer coaches from the European network Roots&Routes, will enlarge the confrontation to the Summer Schools taking place in Greece, Spain and Hungary for Roots&Routes Follow-up: an action-research project addressing non-formal and informal learning in artistic contexts in Europe, coordinated by the University of Barcelona and supported by the Lifelong Learning programme of the European Union.
