Joseph was born French near Paris in 1989 but raised in the Netherlands from 1993 on. At an early age already he noticed a strong drive towards dancing, which he, however, only satisfied in his room at home. At the age of twelve he finally decided to take breakdance lessons, which was a big step for him. However, in the face of all the others who were improving at a much higher peace, he soon gave up again. It was only at the age of fifteen when he decided to go for one year of exchange to Japan that he found back his motivation to dance again. Nevertheless, it was not until 2008 that he really determined himself to become a dancer and also gave in to his penchant for modern and contemporary dance. The trigger for all of this had been the Roots&Routes Summerschool 2008, which had put him into contact with other dancers and other dance styles. Thereafter he started taking lessons in modern and ballet at the Madcity Cologne dance school with the aim of studying dance after graduating high school.
Meanwhile he has gained stage experience all over Europe with R&R projects and through successful participation in the R&R Peer Coaching program he could also explore the field of teaching.
After successful auditions, he is now studying dance at the ArtEZ academy in Arnhem, Netherlands.
“I dislike to categorize myself as a dancer of a certain style. I much rather see myself as a dancer trying to pick up everything that interests him. What fascinates me about dance is the expressive potential of movement as well as the variety and multitude of “motional works of art” that we can create from one and the same source: our body. At the moment I am training ballet, modern, breakdance, acrobatics and the popping technique.“
