| R&R SUMMERSCOOL 2008 | Different Roots - Common Routes Winter Course 2006

1987 Tugba Yilmaz aka. T-whY was born and raised in a village in Germany. She made her first steps into music in the kinder garden, where she got in love with it. At primary school Tugba attempted to the theatre-, choir-, and dance group. At that time T-whY & her sister started playing the piano and the flute on their own. Teachers discovered their talents and supported them by sending the girls to a music school. Tugba kept on singing for different projects like school musicals etc. At the age of 17 she had her first recording session as a background singer of a rapper. Through the rapper Tugba got to know J-J D. He is her producer and working on some new projects with her. The new tracks are based on Turkish sounds, which mirrors her Turkish roots. Since 2006 Tugba is a member of “ROOTS’N’ROUTES “, which is an international music project. She took part in different courses and went in 2008 to the Netherlands. There she stayed for three weeks at the international summer school. In summer 2009 she finished her A-levels in design. Now T-whY is ready to focus on her music& singing career.” Music is the own thing which fills my life, because nobody can take it away from my heart and especially from my soul. My intention is to help people by telling them my experiences. Music is the only force, which holds us together. I know that I can’t change our world, but I try to gain people in a positive way. Urban Media Festival Cologne 09 Goes Public!

Today the Urban Media Festival Cologne 09 opens doors for the public. Since Friday, Nov 11th, 50 young media makers from Spain, France, Israel, the UK, the Netherlands, Italy and Cologne have been producing movies and media art at community center "Alte Feuerwache". The exhibition hall of this place was converted to the Urban Media Lounge that now invites everybody who is interested in media to experience workshops, exhibitions and performances. Entrance fee ranges from 0 to 5 Euros, depending on the event. Details on http://urbanmediafestival.de.
