R&R SUMMERSCOOL 2010 - 5th edition
Also available in: Dutch | EnglishHaving a multi-instrumentalist uncle, a singer, guitar, bass and trumpetplayer, and growing up between two cultures (Afro-Latin) paved the way for D-Luzion as a musician. Inspired by nineties hiphop & R&B, computergames, orchestral registrations, ‘offbeat progressions’ (shifting instruments) and artists such as Aaliyah, Missy Elliott, Eve, Destiny’s Child, Slum Village and J Dilla.
Blending these inspirations with a great amount of fantasy and determination shapes D-Luzion into a distinct songwriter, composer, producer and vocalist and also defines her style as ‘neohiphop’.
Which in 2010 caused her to succesfully reach the finals of the renoun Music Matters Award, competing against Rotterdam’s finest artists for the first prize worth 15.000 euros.
Shortly after, D-Luzion was asked to record with the hiphop/funk/soul band Ron-Le-Bass led by bass player Ronle Rouse. She joined as a lead vocalist and wrote the popular song and second single ‘Music Makes The World Go Round’.
As a live artist she is a clever vocal improviser and can easily switch from rapping to singing, from English to Dutch and from backing to leadvocalist, D-Luzion shows she is versatile and is a beloved guest at local jam sessions. In addition to setting a trademark as a notable performer she sees bonding with the crowd as essential. D-Luzion’s main goal is to push the neohiphop sound broadly and become one of the most succesful females in the Dutch/European urban industry. Perfroming at all the large national & international festivals such as Appelsap, Eurosonic Noorderslag and Glastonbury.
Her ambition, image and neohiphop sound is reason to notice D-Luzion as one of the few in her profession exposing her creativities as she does.
