Buma Rotterdam Beats Festival

Benoit of roots&routes France has asked if I would like to participate at the buma rotterdam beats festival. I didn’t know this festival but I am always ok to do project! So I have accepted and I have gone to Rotterdam the Thursday 17th of November.
I was the first roots&routes talent. I was alone, so I have gone to the performance of Pete Philly. I didn’t know this guy. Was great! The day after, I have discovered the conferences. I haven’t realized that was a great festival like this with important personalities. It was rich. I have learned different things around music, the international evolution of the music. The artistic and commercial aspect. Some discussions were motivating but other discussions were scary for the future of music industry.
Saturday, it was possible to share songs with professionals. I think it had an open mic… I am a beatboxer and the major part of my job is on stage. I have some stuff recorded but actually this stuff is not enough for international music. I shared some stuff and I talked with Amanda, a woman of Imagem in New York. She has given me her contact. I have given my card to a producer too.
Finally this festival was cool. It’s a real experience to meet the professional. Thanks to roots&routes for this travel. But I think I wasn’t ready for this festival become an opportunity. I think an artist have to be weigh in the music industry to be interesting for the eventual artists that we can see in the conferences or the members of another festivals. What a pity for the open mic. It would be a real occasion for me to show my experience.
Conclusion: It was fun and instructive but it doesn’t increase my career. Maybe the next year, if Roots&routes invite me again maybe I will be strong enough to be an interest for the professionals attending.
