Also available in: English | Italian

Firenze, Italia, 24.04.2011

Art’n’Go @ Fabbrica Europa 2011Within the frame of the 18th edition of Fabbrica Europa Festival in Florence, Italy, 50 young musicians, dancers and media makers from Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Sweden, UK, will present the creation and production project Art’n’Go. New Routes to Intercultural Creativity (http://www.rootsnroutes.eu/artngo).

In creative residencies throughout Europe, these young artists have designed and developed seven original productions combining music, dance, visuals and theatre, on the common theme of “(self)consciousness”. After previews in Vic, Pécs, Antwerp, Rotterdam and Bucharest, the live performances About Traffic, Braincheck, Coloured Life, Reality in Disguise, Traces, and the installation Ether Sides, will now be presented on May 21 from 20.00 to 23.00 in a dedicated evening at the former railway station Stazione Leopolda. From May 16 to 21, My World will be finalised in residency in the spaces of Sonoria, the music centre of the Isolotto district in front of the public library BiblioteCaNova, and will be presented in London in June. All Art’n’Go productions will then complete their tour on August 9 in Budapest, on Sziget Festival’s new Europe Stage.

From May 16 to 21, Roots & Routes International will furthermore spread through the city with workshops and installations: on the big open air piazza of the Stazione Leopolda, the public of Fabbrica Europa Festival will be welcomed by the images and sounds of the European cities involved in the Grundtvig Partnership project Urban Soundscapes, supported by the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union. And in the deep heart of the city, the courtyard of Palazzo Giovane, Fabbrica Europa will present in collaboration with the Department for University, Research and Youth Politics of the Municipality of Florence, the project Pomeriggi in città (Afternoons in Town) by art curator Pietro Gaglianò: Roots & Routes artists Olga Pavlenko and Pamela Barberi, together with other four young visual artists from Florence and surroundings working on the confrontation between different art languages (Marina Arienzale, Leone Contini Bonaccossi, Gaetano Cunsolo, Irina Kholodnaya), will propose five laboratories focused on issues connected to the encounter between different cultures, between politics and civil society, between public and private space. The confrontation will actively involve groups of participants, and the results will then be exhibited and shared with the public (opening: May 16, 19.30).
