jfc Medienzentrum
jfc Medienzentrum is a non-governmental, non-profit organization focussing on media, culture and education. Since 1976 we offer consulting, qualification, project development, publications, events and other services on local, regional and national level in the media categories of cinema, radio, video and new media. A key topic of our work is intercultural and international project work with young artists, connecting media and culture. We also run the annual Cologne cinema festival for children "Cinepänz" that had its 20th anniversary in 2009. Other fields of activity include mobile multimedia projects, workshops and seminars for different target groups.
jfc Medienzentrum is a registered non-profit association (“gemeinnütziger Verein” by German law). Our basic funding comes from the city of Cologne and from the North-Rhine Westphalian youth ministry.
Our project activities are developed and carried out together with a variety of organisations and networks. We are member of the “Deutsche Paritätische Wohlfahrtsverband” (DPWV), the German society for media education (GMK), the international media[4]me network and the ROOTS & ROUTES International Association. Our main aim is to help young people to make use of media and culture for their purposes, for reflecting their lives and articulating their wishes and demands – thus making media a tool for self-empowerment and participation on social, cultural and political level.
